I hate to rain on anyones parade but there are some new rules to obtaining the CFP from Utah. Illinois residents no longer qualify for this permit.
Read Below..............

Utah CFP permit update:

(ii) In addition to meeting the other qualifications for the issuance of a concealed firearm permit under this section, a nonresident applicant shall:
(A) hold a current concealed firearm or concealed weapon permit issued by the appropriate permitting authority of the nonresident applicant's state of residency that recognizes the validity of the Utah permit in that state or has reciprocity with Utah's concealed firearm permit law; and
(B) submit a photocopy or electronic copy of the nonresident applicant's current concealed firearm or concealed weapon permit referred to in Subsection (1)(a)(ii)(A).
(iii) A nonresident applicant who knowingly and willfully provides false information to the bureau under Subsection (1)(a)(ii) is prohibited from holding a Utah concealed firearm
permit for a period of 10 years.
(iv) Beginning January 1, 2012, Subsection (1)(a)(ii) also applies to an application for renewal of a concealed firearm permit by a nonresident.

road trip to pennsilviania

EDIT

we were the only state that could get a Penn permit to carry ccw, because we had no permit and hense could not provide a resident ccw permit.

omg I don't make any sence, can somebody clear up my words if you know what I am trying to say.

2nd try,,,,, when penn allowed permits to be issued in the mail Illinois+ wisconsin were the only state which they would issue permits to , without rtc permit from our state of residency.
everybody else(other than illinois+ wisconsin) needed a resident permit before applying to penn.

hope the 2nd try made more sence.

You are incorrect, sir. You MUST have your home state permit IF Utah has reciprocity or recognition with that state. Seeing that Illinois has no permit, everyone is still GOOD TO GO to get their Utah permit Smile hopefully we see everyone in Effingham and allow them to carry in 31 states!

Thank you sir, I stand corrected! I was reading the Utah statute and the reciprocity issues as written. Easy enough to confuse. I am currently an Illinois resident. I use the term currently as I may be leaving this state. I applaud all of the positive attitude concerning obtaining the right to carry. It's a bit ike being a Cub's fan... someday just maybe, someday. Having been an Illinois resident for sixty years, disappointment has become expected. I am sure that "if" it were to come to pass the money grubbing politicians and Chicago crooks will be having a good old time with it. Requirements will be unreasonable, fees and permitting costs will undoubtedly be incredible. The insurance companies and attorneys will have their part in it also In other words, so absolutely restrictive and expensive as to be only available to an elite few. Remember this is Illinois, the land of corruption, liars and Obama.
Take Care, my friend....
