Thanks for the tip NapalmMan! I did a little checking on the www and I really like the looks of that Mossberg Maverick 88. I reckon I need to check into that one a little further, and would love one in my apartment with an ammo sleeve on the stock. I prefer slugs over buckshot! A .50 caliber chunk of lead in center mass takes the fight out of most folks!!!

Speculating here but I would guess that many of the pistol grip shot guns are purchased by inexperienced shooters not familiar with the psychics of what happens when it goes boom. Real life is not always like the movies.

At least that is my opinion based on the things I have seen.

Sometimes gun ranges can be similar to boat launch ramps, a very entertaining place!

Guess that would include most all police in the experienced shooters list.
Low recoil 8-9 shot is key...

I agree with the statement about inexperienced shooters! You can watch all the cop shows and movies and see many, many "bloopers".

Jknapp, I don't know if your would want a hand gun or a long gun for your home defense weapon. If you are inclined towards a long gun Gander Mt. is running a sale on a lot of firearms till the 29th of this month.

If you want a shotgun in the $200.00 range, you might want take a look at an H&R Pardner. It's on sale for $199.99. It's a pump action gun. Well take a look at the attached file: http://gandermountain.shoplocal.com/gandermountain/Default.aspx?action=browsepagespread&storeid=2401011&rapid=1704644&pagenumber=8

Then again, if your looking for a revolver. They have a Rossi .357 in SS with a 6 inch barrel for $349.99. This gun looks a lot like a S&W 66 or a 686.

As you may know, Rossi is owned by Taurus and I think that this revolver is made at the same time a a gun bearing the Taurus stamp on it.

Either way, check out the flier. The ultimate decision is your's.

Don't know if you found a home defense gun yet. Here's one from an FFL hlder I know. It's within your price range.

Check it out: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=296729904
