WSYX (ABC Columbus) is reporting that a gunmen held up the employees at the Applebee's on Morse Rd. near Easton about 1:45 a.m. last Wednesday. What the report doesn't mention is the fact that this Applebee's, along with others in Ohio, posted "no-guns" signs in response to the passage of Ohio's restaurant Carry bill last year.
From the article:
The restaurant was closed at the time when the masked gunman got inside through an unlocked door.
Columbus police detectives on the scene say the robbery only lasted about five minutes, but the robber got away with money from the safe.
There were two women and a man who were inside closing the restaurant at the time of the robbery.
No one was seriously hurt.
Right now, police believe this robber could be responsible for five other robberies in the Columbus area.
And so, once again, we see that while Applebee's "no-guns" signs are effective at keeping out patrons who simply wish to protect their families, they are impotent in their goal of keeping guns out of the restaurant. But if the managers choose to ignore this reality and continue to believe the signs are effective, perhaps they should also consider posting "no armed robbery" signs...

I'm sure the assailant would have moved on to another target had he read the no guns sign. I just can't imagine why a semi law abiding citizen would choose to bring a gun to a no gun establishment. He just didn't *see* the sign. The no guns signs have to work. I mean they're signs that read "No Guns"! They usually have a picture of a gun with a red circle and slash over it. *Who would realy ignore this*?!?
Sorry. It's early and I'm an A-hole in the morning. |

I suggest that they have the infamous sign of the gun with the red slash through it and underneath it the words "24 HOURS", then there would be no question. Thant might solve there problem. |

Possibly it is keeping the law abiding people from entering, and possibly going elsewhere.
Or maybe the criminal element is just not interested in reading the sign |
