Help save a range

Kane County Forest Preserve bought a parcel of lane along RT 31 in Dundee.
I drive by there every day on the way to work.
They have named it Brunner Family Forest Preserve . I thought it was nice and wanted to check it out, but it seems as if it is not open yet.
I get to work and check it out using google maps and look what I see!!!

I have a call into the Forest Preserve asking if we can save this.
If you are from Kane County let me know, This could be big money maker for Kane County if they don't destroy it.

Wonder if they Will lease it to a club?
Lets start a club and save it!!!

They called back, the gentleman I spoke with said there was no chance as their "use ordinance" prohibits firearms on preserve property, more on this later.
I asked him if we could get a variance, or possibly a separate entrance from rt.31.
He is up in Wisconsin hunting, he said he and a bunch of other hunters who work for the forest preserve wanted to keep it as well but it was not in the "plans"
He will be back in town on the 14th and I will speak to him then.

Now I looked at the use ordinance for the forest preserve of Lake County.

He is wrong it states..
"Section 5 – Weapons and Harmful Substances
At any time have in their possession or on or about their person, concealed or otherwise, any firearm, pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, bow and arrow, slingshot, crossbow, spear or spear gun, switchblade knife, stiletto, sword, blackjack, billy club, any dangerous weapon capable of discharging a projectile by air, spirits, gas weapon or explosion, any explosive substance or harmful solid, liquid or gaseous substance, or any other dangerous weapon, except at those ranges or areas designated for their use by the President, and then only in accordance with the rules and restrictions duly set forth for the proper use of such ranges or areas. Nothing contained herein shall be constructed to prevent any District police, deputy, sheriff, coroner, game warden, state policeman, or any other duly sworn peace officer from carrying such weapons as may be authorized and necessary for the discharge of their duties nor shall it apply to any person summoned by any such officer to assist in making arrests or preserving the peace while such person is engaged in assisting."

So it seems to me as long as the president says it is a range it is OK.

So in the mean time lets get some signatures saying we would like them to keep it and open it to the public.

I signed the petition. It looks like a really good cause. It would be great to turn this place into a range and be able to use it!!!

I like how after you sign, change.org tries to get you to sign a bunch of pro-government, pro-law petitions Razz

Yea change.org i realised after I made the petition what it was.
Just ignore all the lib crap..LOL..

Well, I signed it as well.....I'm sure we are the last thing the Forest Preserve wants to see using their land. I noticed only 47 signers thus far as of Nov 30 2011
