AN EMAIL FROM WISCONSIN ANTI GUN OWNERSHIP FUND
I will be out of town, otherwise I would be at the hearing. If you can go, I would suggest giving Jeri or her minions a call at the number below and let her know you'll be there. You probably shouldn't mention that you oppose her legislation Just confirm that you'll be there
Wish I could go
Dear Friends:
By now you should have received an email from WAVE announcing the April 7 hearing on AB 914, the background check bill. Here's more good news: a hearing on the Senate companion bill - SB 643 - has just been scheduled for Thursday, April 8. Details on both are below.
This critical policy initiative has now moved further in the process than ever before. To keep it going, it will be very helpful for you to attend either or both hearings in Madison to register and/or testify in favor. Please contact WAVE (414-351-9283, wave@waveedfund.org) if you plan to attend in person.
If you just can't make it, calls/emails to the committee chairs prior to the hearings are the way to let them know that you favor this legislation. Their contact information is below.
With great appreciation for your assistance...

life is like a box of choclates sometimes it's full of nuts.
if gas was free I would be at every one of these things.
question, why should we not tell her that we oppose this legislation over the phone? |

It would be funny if she thought 40 people were showing up to support her ban of gun sales. Then when she showed up those people were against it! |

I just sent out an email to all Wisconsin members. I also sent the follow (a different email) to the legislators heading up the committees:
Dear Wisconsin Legislators,
I wanted to inform you that we are well aware of the bills proposed in the house and senate that would outlaw the private sale of firearms by responsible, law-abiding firearms owners. Our organization and members are very opposed to this legislation. This legislation would:
--Instantly turn law-abiding citizens into criminals if they sell a gun to someone directly
--Create an enormous burden on responsible firearms owners
--Fail to impact criminals and criminal activity in any way
--Add time and expenses for firearms sales
--Be completely unenforceable. Criminals and even law-abiding citizens – in particular the enderly!!!! – will fail to follow the guidelines. Senior citizens who are veterans, retired law-enforcement, and old-time hunters and sportsman will frequently fail to follow the guidelines and instantly be open to arrest and prosecution – being treated like criminals! – because of an insane law.
--Allow the federal government to track all firearms sales in the state, violating the privacy of responsible citizens
We urge you to oppose this legislation. We will be closely watching what happens, including ALL votes on the matter. I’m sure you know as well as I do that this legislation is promoted by organizations and individuals who are trying to gain political favor and trying to appear as though they are doing something to combat crime, when in fact such legislation would have NO positive impact on crime whatsoever.
If organizations and individuals, including legislators like yourself, are TRULY interested in combating crime and the criminal misuse of firearms, then they should not be creating laws that target responsible firearms owners. They should not be working against the interests of gun owners. They should work WITH responsible firearms owners. We are just as interested (likely even moreso!!) as non-firearms owners at stopping and punishing the criminal misuse of firearms.
Bills like these only divide us when we should be working together to stop criminals. Organizations like WAVE are made up of a few paid propagandists and their true intention is to burden and destroy firearms ownership period. They rarely engage in activities that actually combat crime. Instead they target the law-abiding. People can see this – I hope you can. These organizations are failing. They have no members, no grassroots, and no facts to back their agenda. Firearms owners belong to countless groups, including such as the NRA, Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, Wisconsin Carry, Inc. and yours truly, ICarry.org.
Please stand up for sensibility on these bills and future bills. We will continue to expose the lies and distortion put out by these organizations. It will not be politically favorable to be aligned with them. We will be supporting legislators who support and respect responsible firearms ownership and responsible firearms owners.
Sincerely yours,
Shaun Kranish

I honestly understand that they (well, a majority of WAVE's members) are trying to reduce violence on our streets. The thing is, they're just going about it the wrong way... Solve the problem, because there will always be another tool... |
