I just received a tip from someone in Jainesville about the Jainesville PD. I'm going to copy/paste the message but I will be leaving out some personally identifying information to protect the poster.
| Quote: |
| I ride with police here ... and they are very very wary on Open Carry. One wrote me that a person exercising the right of open carry in Janesville, which he says technically is illegal, would be disturbing the peace and be charged with such. That saddens me. |
I'm going to give them a call about this. This is only a part of the message and it appears to be legitimate. I'm going to follow up with the person who sent it. But it looks like some people in the Jainesville PD may need to be educated. |

I'd do an OC event in Janesville. You haven't really lived until you've been arrested right? jk, I would rather not be arrested, but they clearly need to be educated on the law. Please let us know what happens Shaun. |

there is an event scheduled for April 24th. I don't think it's IN janesville, but maybe. It's either in or right outside janesville. But perhaps we should meet somewhere IN janesville afterwards for a bite |

Do you have any info on the April 24th date, location and times. If so I could make plans now to attend this one being that it is a month away. I really would like to meet the faces behind the names. Thanks |

Go Janesville OC event!
If there isn't one now, someone needs to start one!
I understand their concern, however, if it is right there in the open, so long as it stays put I'm not sure what the problem is. As long as it's legal... |

When my dad went to the pd for finger printing for his utah ccp they told him that they dont really bother with it because its legal? I have oc in woodmans, farm and fleet, walmart, walgreen and more and had no trouble yet. Icalled them and asked about co thay said they go by state law ,but good luck with that? jeffemt |

I too have open carried in Janesville on several occasions with no problems. Just watch out for those sneaky school zones! |

As far as school zones. If you go shopping somewhere that borders a school you would be ok loading up in the parking lot in front of the store because that is the store's private property, correct? |

The Cleanup in Janesville will be April 24th. We will meet up at 12:30. Do both stretches, then meet for a BBQ in Riverside Park in Janesville. |

We will be meeting at 12:30 pm at the intersection of Hwy 14 and Kennedy Rd. There will be signs posted. It should be easy to find. |

I wish the 24th was on a sunday so I could attend. Good luck guys, I dont think ALL janesville pd think that way. Community service is ALWAYS a good way to get good press and pull people in from the dark side. Ill try to get some of my Lake County guys out there for you. |

I will not be able to make the 24th due to family obligations. Going to take my daughter to watch the Cubs beat the Brewers, but I wish you all the best and make sure we get pics. |
