I'm an Illinois resident and I have a summer home in Adams Country about 1/2 way between Oxford and Wisconsin Dells. This summer I plan to OC in the area. I've been reading the posts and the laws regarding the issue. Anyone out there have any advice for me? Has anyone had any experience with OC in the Dells area? This will be my first time carrying, open or concealed. |

Welcome to ICarry, jj60187. Take a seat and get comfortable! You'll find some resources throughout the site that will help you get comfortable with the WI laws and techniques for open carrying in the state. I blast through Oxford occasionally on my way from the southern edge of the Nort' country to Markesan where I have some family.
Biggies...not within 1000 ft of a school zone, no place that serves alcohol (even if you are not partaking), not in a "publicly owned" building. Must be holstered and COMPLETLY exposed (except for the part covered by the holster). But IANAL and you need to research the laws before you carry to make sure that you are comfortable with them and your ability to meet them. If you go the the "Downloads" area you will find a good brochure on the laws in WI...read through that and you will have a good start. Otherwise carry confindently and you should have very little problem in that area. Very pro-gun area with lots of hunters and farmers who are used to having guns around. |
