We're starting a new thing on ICarry with usernames and avatars. It's totally optional, but we'd like to encourage everyone if they don't mind, to switch over their username to their real name (send me a message and I can do it for you), and use a small picture of you - preferably face - for people to get to know you.
Yes, like facebook.
Obviously I respect you 100% if you wish to retain your anonymity, but for those willing to put a face and name to their posts, it can help us out a lot with new people. When we get together and meet, it'll definitely help me out! I can't keep online names straight with real names, and then attaching them to the actual person is like...a long shot for me.
So if you feel good about it, join the club You're not even required to look as cool as the guy in sunglasses here |

You can set my name to: GregWilliamson
The internet is not as 'anonymous' as some seem to think. It's not that hard to find you. You should never post something you wouldn't want connected to your name no matter what your screen name is! |

This has caught on phenomenally. I can't thank everyone enough who has jumped on board with this. It's really adding a lot of credibility to the movement. Nothing like a name and picture behind your words to show that you mean it.
If you want your username changed, I can do it for you -- please contact me by using the Contact Us/Feedback link on the left or through private message or carrier pidgin or whatever. I'll change it for you!

Cool, just had another few people change their names to their real names!
I LOVE it when someone asks me to do it. It's not a pain at all, only takes me 10 seconds. I love adding more real names to our numbers!!! |

Yep, just had mine changed. This is the first time I've been on a gun forum now with a login that's not gollbladder13!
Once I find a pic that fits the 110x110 specs, I'll change that, too... |

As for the picture size - if you use something like photobucket.com you can upload a picture into your album and then it lets you change the size to whatever you want online. Just a suggestion. |

Well...I am a newbie and did not see the request for true identities. So I will change my avatar and comply with my real name. Perhaps this can be explained to newbies when their registration is confirmed. Just a suggestion. But anywho...I will search for a current photo and private message Shaun... Thanks! |

Sorry folks, my face is not in my Avatar. That is my 1972 Snow Trac ST4 sitting on top of a mountain in Scotland shortly before I had it shipped here to the US.
But if you want to see the face of a typical gun owner/hobbyist, well here are a couple to consider:
Me:
My daughter:
Sorry, no photos of my lovely wife, she's a former Trap Shooter and is ROTC trained in rifle and pistol. |

May I ask how old your daughter is in the photo? |
