However, if you are not a resident you cannot get a WI permit. WI is not issuing non-resident permits-WI is only recognizing permits from other states (TBD) that have a background check as a part of their permit process.

If no training is necessary, does a PA licence pass?

We'll have to wait 4 months for the approved list. Some trianing is required. My guess is the PA won't cut it, but that UT and FL will.

I agree with Tyler, the Florida and Utah permits should work in Wisconsin. The bill mentions similar training and background checks.

Congratulations to everyone who fought for this 2nd amendment privilege. Bravo!

I'm jealous.

It appears, (according to the newspaper article linked at the beginning of this thread) that IL residents still will not be able to conceal in WI due to IL mot having a permit.

I disagree dave. Dont listen to reporters, read the bill. Nowhere in the bikl does it say that the out of state permit needs to be from the person's home state.

I just sent a message to the Minority House Leader Tom Cross expressing my displeasure. I strongly suggest, if you are as mad as I am about our State's flagrant disregard for the U.S. Constition, you all should also send one to your representative.

They have two year terms and an election is coming in November. I used some of the wording in the ISRA open letter about the State being Morally Bankrupt.

You can find the ISRA letter on their website ISRA.ORG and your legislature on the State of Illinois site.

Exactly what i was thinking...To me it reads out of state permits that require training, will be valid...

It's no problem, but dont' rely on the media to explain the bill. They don't read them either. I am not a lawyer, and I don't claim to understand the bill in its entirety, but it seems to me that you don't have to have a license from your home state.

First I want to say "thanks" to this website for all the work to get SB93 this far.

I reside in WI and just requested a fresh copy of my Hunter Safety Certificate obtained in the 80s from my birth state of MI. I am not a felon.

What are the chances I would be issued a CC license in WI after the background check (without further "training")?

Well as far as I read in the bill...it IS a SHALL ISSUE...which means, if you pass the background check you WILL be good to go...Like Tyler said earlier though...I'm no lawyer, I just think I'm reading the bill correctly. Very Happy

If you live in WI you need a WI permit from what I've read. If you are from elsewhere, there will be a list of states whose CCW permits are deemed acceptable to WI.
