On June 11/12, I will be presenting the NRA Pistol Instructor training class. It is a full 2 days, and includes BIT (Basic Instructor Training, required for all new NRA instructors) as well as the Pistol Instructor module. The class will be in Elgin, IL.
For information and logistics etc., e-mail me at:

thanks,,,,

The class portion is is at the Holiday Inn...495 Airport Rd; that is roughly the intersection of I-90 and IL-31.
Cost is $325. There will also be a nominal...less than $25 fee directly to the NRA as a credentials processing charge. |

So, assuming I took the class... what would the next step be to becomming a certified NRA pistol instructor? Also, what are the benefits? |

The next step, assuming you successfully complete the class, pass the two tests (open book...not a problem) and receive my endorsement on your application (which we fill out at the class) is to sit and wait for the credentials to be processed. (I.e., there are no other classes to take.)
Asking about the "benefits" is too vague. Do you enjoy the possibility of teaching classes? Do you want to teach permit to carry classes for many States? Do you want to take advantaqge of several good discounts that manufacturers provide to NRA instructors? Only you would know what is of interest to you. |

Will you be scheduling any NRA Pistol Instructor classes in the western Illinois/eastern Iowa area. I could not attend the last one you held in Leclaire Iowa. |

The issue always is ...will there be interest. The NRA position is that at least 4 need to attend to be able to hold a class. I have no problem tentatively setting one up again for Le Claire, but...would we get 4 ?? Well, it could be set up and then see what happens.... |

If you have a tentative date that would give me a chance to plan around my calendar. I would hope there would be some interest in having a class. |

Pick a date in June....it takes 2 days...typically a weekend.
June 4/5 ? 18/19? 25/26? |

I shall try to set up a class that weekend (June 4/5), but it probably would be in the Des Moines area (Altoona). I need to check on facility options. |

For those on the fence about the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Class... get off the fence and sign up! I took Paul's class a year ago, and he was by FAR one of the best instructors I've had. It's hard to find an instructor that doesn't have the "I'm an instructor, therefore I'm better than you" and "I know it all" attitudes, which makes Paul a great asset to our firearms community!
I encourage you, if you're available and are contemplating this class, to sign up before space is full! It is WELL worth the investment!
