+1 on that. I went there for the first time Saturday. A great place and cheap to shoot. Really friendly range officers too. |

I almost went to the SSC today, darn it.
There is an indoor 22lr only range, but that isn't normally open on weekends. Outdoors there are 50ft, 25yd, 50yd, and 100yd ranges. As stated there is also trap, and there is also sporting clays from time to time, but I don't know the schedul for that. We're also working on a pit area. |

This place is kind of hard to find because it does not have an address. It is located next to Beesing Welding off of IL Rt 2. This range offers four 25 yard stalls, and they have just added a 100 yard stall. This is a private rang for members only. They require a $40 per year membership, but it is ree to shoot. They are open Monday - Saturday during daylight hours, and Sunday from 10 am till dark. |
It's an ok range. The 100 yd. ditch is more like 77 yds though, and everytime I've been there it's full of water and muddy as hell at the bench end.

ASC in Waterman has range out to 600 yds., although it is membership required. I would like to get over to SSC some weekend and check out the place though, since it is only 10 mins. from my house. How much are the dues Tyler?
I would like to get out to Buffalo also sometime, as I've never been. |

For ssc there is a one time initiation fee of $80 and membership fee of $80 a year. There are 40 people on the waiting list right now. |

That's not quite right.
It's $80 a year as an associate or full member. To move up from associate to full member there is a one time $80 fee. I am an associate, and I just pay $80 a year with no initiation fee. |

Oh, ok. Thanks for the clearification. The guy i spoke to on the phone didn't go into that much detail about it.
How do you like being a member of the SSC. I wanted to get more info when we were there on saturday and fill out an application.
Can you shoot me a PM on details about it and stuff you like or may not like about being a member of the SSC. I'm guess you have to put in some volunteer time and stuff like that.
Maybe i'll run into you on saturday. |

I'll post the details here.
I have been shooting there over two years, and I have only been a member for the past two months. I like it. I am not a full member yet, but I am working on it. There are no qork hours UNLESS you want to become a full member. Then you have to do 16 hours of work for the club.
It's a small place, friendly, and easy for me to get to. It doesn't have as much to offer as say Aurora Sportsman Club, but for the cost it's hard to beat. ($80 a year and $2 each time to shoot).
I personally wish they had more going on, like IDPA, but I think that will come with time. The pit is still getting ready, and they do cowboy action and NRA action pistol, so I think that IDPA will eventually come.
It's more of a club than an organization. What I mean is that I get a strong sense of everyone is just there to have fun. They aren't really interested in trying to recruit a lot of new members, as I get the vibe that ASC needs new members for the $$$. I like this as it's relaxing to go there.
I think that if you live in the area and want a place to shoot that you might as well sign up on the waiting list. |

Thanks for the info!! |

I usually get there around 12:15 to set up before the safety briefing. If it is raining then I might not go. |

i have been looking to become a member there. do you know how much it is? |
The last time I checked into the fees, I believe they were about $85 per year & you had to voluteer so many hours per year for certain duties. Be aware that there is a long waiting list. Information can be obtained at the shooting range. Hope this helps you. I shoot their very often. Not a member though. |
