Wisconsin State Senate considering 2 bad anti-gun bills |
|
Thanks to sidearm40 for posting this in our forum!
SB 174 and SB 367 are scheduled to come before the WI Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, December 1st.
SB 174 requires that all new guns sold in the state of WI have a specially engraved firing pin that would micro-stamp a unique identifier onto the primer when the weapon is fired. The concern is that most manufacturers do not currently have the ability to produce such a firing pin and the cost of producing such a firing pin would drive up the cost of a firearm and would really only place extra expense onto law abiding citizens.
SB 367 would make it a crime to not report a lost or stolen firearm within 48 hours of it going missing. Failure to report within the required time period brings a threat of fines and imprisonment for the person who is the owner of record of the lost firearm.
Anyone think that these laws will make it harder for criminals to get guns...or will it just make criminals out of normally law abiding citizens??
Now is the time to call the members of the judiciary committee (who will be hearing the proposed bills), voice your objection to these unnecessary laws, and urge the members to vote against these bills so that they will not be heard on the Senate Floor. Senate Judiciary Committee members are listed below, along with their contact information.
Thanks for making our voices heard!!
