The fall of gun control: Terror, hurricanes spur gun ownership

By Tom Collins and Shelby Sebens

As printed in the N Central Illinois Tribune

No one was more outraged than Allan Vander Meersch when Illinois proposed charging gun owners $650 to carry a firearm owner’s ID card — a whopping increase from the current $5 fee.

The Spring Valley machinist, who draws a modest living selling firearms and ammunition at gun shows, was not surprised by the move, however.

Vander Meersch began hunting with his father at age 5 and joined the National Rifle Association in 1970. In the 30 years since, he’s been quick to phone legislators to support or oppose gun legislation. Mostly, it’s been in opposition.

“The atmosphere for gun ownership has changed 300 percent — 100 percent for every 10 years I’ve been involved,” Vander Meersch said. “It’s not changing in a direction that favors people who own firearms.”

From Nov. 2nd through Nov. 30th we raised $720 ($700 after PayPal fees)!!! That is INCREDIBLE!!! There is nothing that better displays the committment we all share to the continued fight for freedom! We must always "hang together" and support those wrongfully persecuted. It is in this way we will strive to ensure freedom in this country. I can't thank you all enough for your generosity and touching support.

At this point I'm not sure what it's all going to cost. We may have raised enough, but it is uncertain. We're waiting to see (hopefully we'll know by Dec. 8th) whether or not the criminal matter is resolved. If the case continues or goes to trial, more charges will be incurred.

There are currently 3 easy ways you can help support ICarry.org:

1) Amazon.comThe first and BEST way is to use our Amazon.com affiliation. The holiday season is coming up, and lots of people are shopping online. If you order Amazon.com products through us, we get a commission that will go toward the continued progress of this site! The more you use Amazon through us the more you support us.

2) Get FireFoxThe next best way is to use the link on the right to download the FireFox web browser. It's a great free program, and doesn't contain any spyware. We get $1.00 for each person that downloads and installs. Read More for more info.

3) Google ads are the final way. We receive money each time a user clicks on one of these. If you see something that interests you, or would spend a few minutes a day checking them out, you will be helping support us! Read More...

You may have noticed that an Amazon.com module has been installed. There are a couple blocks as well that have featured products and related products. There's also a review system, which I haven't tried out yet. I'll post some reviews once I read some of these books!

Anyways, although I'm still playing around with the system and figuring it all out, here's the scoop:

If you happen to use Amazon.com already for any online shopping purposes, you can use the system on this site and we get commission! The money will go to help support the hosting and other ICarry.org expenses. Please note: you pay the same prices as buying on Amazon.com like normal, there's no extra fees. Instead of Amazon.com getting all the money, we get a small portion to help support the site!

Anytime you want to order something online, consider seeing if Amazon.com has it for about the same (or maybe less) price than the site you were looking at! Then if you decide to use Amazon through us the money goes back into the site and community!

I have setup a fund for my criminal/civil defense. I didn't want to have to do this, but it's going to cost a bit of money in legal fees and such. Many people have inquired about this, so we've now setup the official fund. If there is any money leftover, I will be donating it to a gun-owner/support legal defense fund OR we will be setting up an official ICarry.org fund. At this time, because of legalities, we can't do such a thing. Your generous donations will still go to my defense and the defense of others.

There is a forum discussion HERE

You can view the donation page by CLICKING HERE

Thanks for your interest and support!
